Maths

Mathematics is a creative and highly inter-connected subject that has been developed over centuries, providing solutions to some of history’s most intriguing problems. It is essential to everyday life, critical to science and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high quality mathematics education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, an appreciation of beauty and power of mathematics and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity of the subject.

We use a Singapore approach to teaching mathematics with Maths – No Problem resources to develop learning across the school. We encourage children to enjoy maths so that they feel secure enough to problem solve and apply their learning to real life situations.

‘Mathsframe’ has more than 200 interactive maths games. All resources are designed, by an experienced KS2 teacher, to help children to visualise numbers, patterns and numerical relationships and to develop their mathematical thinking. New games are added regularly.

‘Topmarks’ is a brilliant website that has a range of maths games to support learners throughout junior school. They’ve been busy making more maths games this summer and their latest ‘Number Fact Families’ is aimed at 6 to 11 year olds. Like all Topmarks’ games it is tablet friendly and it works brilliantly on an interactive whiteboard in full-screen mode.
